The Valiant (1962 film)

Alarm on the Valiant is a British- Italian war film from 1962 by Roy Ward Baker, who is based on a true story. As a basis for the screenplay was the stage play L' équipage au complet by Robert Mallet, which was premiered in Paris in 1957.

Action

The British Mediterranean fleet in December 1941, only two battleships available, the HMS Valiant and HMS Queen Elizabeth. Both ships are in the harbor of Alexandria at anchor. One night, two Italian frogmen, Luigi Durand de la Penne and Emilio Bianchi, fished out of the water near the Valiant and captured. The two will be heard from Captain Morgan, but nothing gets out of them. Morgan is full of concern that the two enemy soldiers could have attached a limpet mine to the ship. He denied the severely injured Bianchi medical aid in breach of the Geneva Conventions. Also among his people to make trouble because of this inhumane treatment wide.

The ship's officer Lieutenant Field has special problems during questioning with the two Italians, for he had married an Italian woman.
