The Voice of Germany (season 2)

The second season of the talent show The Voice of Germany was aired from October 18 to December 14, 2012. It was moderated by Thore Schölermann and backstage by Doris Golpashin. The jury was - as in the first season - from the pop musician Nena, the soul singer Xavier Naidoo, the singer and guitarist Rea Garvey and the duo Alec Voelkel and Sascha Vollmer of the country band The BossHoss. The winner was Nick Howard with his song Unbreakable.

First phase: The Blind Auditions

The auditions for the second season took place from May to July 2012, but were not shown on television. The blind auditions were recorded in August 2012 at the Studio Adlershof in Berlin and broadcast in six television broadcasts from 18 October to 2 November 2012. Before the start of television broadcasting ProSieben and Sat.1 set the audio recording of the blind auditions performances available on the internet, without disclosing the reaction of the jury. In a competition, the audience was able to tap which candidates had chosen the jury in the second round. The jury selected 66 candidates, including three duets, moved into the second phase, in which Nena and Rea Garvey with 16 and Xavier Naidoo and The BossHoss, each with 17 candidates. Among the total of 69 artists to 35 women and 34 men were.

Second phase: The Battle Round

The Battle Round was recorded in mid-September 2012 in Berlin and broadcast in TV shows from 8th to 16th November 2012. As in the first season Nena was advised by Derek von Krogh, The BossHoss Jan Löchel and Xavier Naidoo by Michael Herberger. Rea Garvey was supported by Andy Chatterley.

In Rea Garvey Nena and group eight one-on -one duels with one winner took place. From the seventeen each candidate by Xavier Naidoo and The BossHoss seven winners of one-on -one duels, and an additional winners were determined from a three-way battle. The 32 winning candidates came in the live show phase.

Third stage: Live Shows

The six live shows took place in the knockout system from 22 November to 14 December 2012 in Berlin. In the first five live shows, two candidates of a coach sang a song in succession. A combination of coach rating and televoting results ruled that comes between the two artists in the next round. In the first two live shows four of the eight participants dropped out of each coaches. In the third and fourth transfer two more candidates per group had to leave the show. In the semi-final show, one of the two qualified candidates each coaches for the final show on December 14, 2012.

First Live Show

In the first two live shows on 22 and November 23, 2012 four of the eight candidates were further each group.

Second Live Show

At the beginning of the second live show was Ivy Quainoo before her song Who You Are.

Third Live Show

In the third and fourth live show on 29 and 30 November 2012, two of the four candidates were further each group. At the beginning of the third Live Show Rea Garvey wore before his song Wild Love. Later in the show singing her song Nena That's not all.

Fourth Live Show

At the beginning of the fourth live show the band The BossHoss submitted their song I Keep on Dancing. Later, the band joined Sing for your life to the song Aim High.

Semifinal

In the fifth live show, the semi-final on December 7, 2012, the eight remaining participants were in each case on or with a self-composed song composed for them. In addition, the two candidates each group sang a song in a duet. After the presentation of their song Freaky T announced her resignation for health reasons of the show. This was Michael Lane without a coach and spectator rating as a finalist from Xavier Naidoo's group found. Then sang Freaky T and Michael Lane nor their duet.

Final

The sixth live show, the finale was held on December 14, 2012. As in the first season the winner was determined by a combination of number of song downloads and televoting results. Presented in the semifinals own songs of the four finalists were available in the iTunes Store and other portals paid downloads. For each of the four finalists included a download sold on December 13, 2012 to as much as two televoting votes on the final evening.

At the start of the final show interpreted Robbie Williams together with the candidate 's current hit Candy and later sang his song Different.

In the final show each finalist wore before his own song, also sang a duet with his coach and another duet with a guest artist. Nick Howard sang along with Emeli Sandé, Isabell Schmidt with Birdy, Michael Lane with Leona Lewis and James Borges with Nelly Furtado. The most downloaded before the final show had Isabell Schmidt, but after completion of the televoting Nick Howard had the highest overall ranking.

Ratings

On average 4.02 million viewers watched the second season of The Voice of Germany on ProSieben and Sat.1, the market share of the total audience was 13.3 percent. In the target group of 14 - to 49 -year-olds saw an average of 2.71 million viewers to, corresponding to a market share of 23.0 percent.
