The White Parade is an American film drama from 1934. The screenplay is based on the novel by Rian James.

Action

1907 visited the idealistic June Arden Mitchell Reed- school for nurses. Three years they will spend in order to follow in the footsteps of her role model Florence Nightingale. June shares a room with Zita Scofield, who suffers in the very first night of nostalgia. June Zita told by her friend Ronald Hall III, a wealthy polo player. June is with Robert but only known. But as the skeptical Gertrude Mack wrote to Ronald, to provide clarity, answers his secretary Ms. McPherson and confirmed the relationship between the two.

The girls learn of their studies, and after six months they lay their first examination, all of which exist. The next half of the year they will operate in the adjacent hospital. The work and all the work that keeps Gertrude not stop them from interfering in all matters. As Gertrude reads in a newspaper that the famous Ronald wants to visit the city, she asks June if the 'll meet him at the station. June wants to save face and get off at the train station in Ronald's compartment. The surprised and delighted Ronald plays charades with Junes. It does not take long that the two actually fall in love. On Christmas Zita is reprimanded by the Rector Miss Harrington for their delay in commencement layer. But Miss Harrington shows heart and are Zita money so they can go on holiday, she has not had the years before.

A few months later, June is nearing completion. But it runs the risk not to graduate because they due to the nights with Ronald, is getting slower and more tired. Between the pair, there is a dispute at a party. Ronald wants June ceases as a nurse, but June will go absolutely. After Ronald June brought home, he had an accident with his car. His recovery time is spent in Junes hospital. June asks Miss Harrington, whether the layers can be exchanged so that she could take care of Ronald personally. The changes will be allowed, but June finds out for herself that she prefers to stay in a terminally ill patient who really needs it.

Two weeks before the final exam Zita is reprimanded because of their slowness of Miss Harrington. Zita is hysterical, and even as her friend, Dr. Jim Moore, they treated disparagingly, she tries to commit suicide with anesthetics. By the time June is responsible for the keys of the anesthesia cabinet. When she looked again after Ronald, she has the keys handed over to the elevator operator Sammy. June finds Zita close to death in the room on. The surgeon Dr. Thorne can save Zita. He agrees with the head nurse Sailor Roberts, June to leave despite the error in the school. Sailor said Miss Harrington the incident, which then allows the whereabouts of June at the school and to pass the exam.

On the date of award of the degree certificates are all upset emotionally. Gertrude asks June for their behavior forgiveness. June's big day is ruined by her Ronald, who still insists that they, when they marry, to give up the profession of nurse should. June recognizes her true destiny and leaves breaks with Ronald. Dr. Thorne congratulates her on her decision and tells her that she was a born nurse.

Criticism

Andre Mountain Forest of the New York Times described the film as a sentimental journey through the life of student nurses. The film tell in eloquent, flash and a little opportunistic manner of the joys and sorrow ..

The Variety was, the novel is sent, quick-witted and has sometimes been implemented heartwarming.

Awards

In 1935 there were two Oscar nominations in the categories of Best Film and Best Sound ( Edmund H. Hansen).
