The Zahir (novel)

The Zahir is a novel by the Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho. He was released in 2005 under the original title " O Zahir ". The German version was published in the same year by Diogenes.

Content

The Zahir tells the story of a man whose wife disappears. Whether she was abducted or whether she ran off with a younger lover, remains unclear. The question why Esther without a word disappeared, the mind of man fills to the point of obsession. Esther became the Zahir, "A Zahir is something you, you have it even touched or seen, will never forget and that occupies our thinking to the point of madness ." The Abandoned recognizes only if he finds Esther, he can defeat the Zahir. It starts an inner and outer journey, at the end love is.
