Thea Beckman

Thea Beckman ( born July 23, 1923 in Rotterdam as Theodora Petie; † 5 May 2004 in Bunnik ) was a Dutch writer. Beckman was mainly involved in youth literature.

Life

Theodora Petie initially trained as a seamstress and worked as a clerk until 1945 Dick Beckmann married. She began to write for children's magazines. On the advice of the publisher chose it as a pseudonym for her first book, " Thea Beckman ." In 1971, she received the Silver pen for her Met debut Korilu de Griemel rond (Eng. world trip with Korilu ). 1973 succeeded Beckman of breakthrough as a children's author with the work crusade into the unknown, which was awarded the following year with the Golden pen. Beckman took the Abitur in 1975 and then studied social psychology at the University of Utrecht. In 1981, she completed the study.

Beckman died in 2004 in Bunnik, the same year was the historic Nieuwsblad Bontekoeprijs, the prize for the best historical youth book in the Netherlands, renamed Thea Beckmanprijs.

In 2006, with the first Crusade in Jeans film adaptation of a novel by Beckman in the cinemas.
