Theater Die Kleine Freiheit

The Kleine Freiheit was a cabaret and theater in Munich.

It was founded by cabaret artist Trude Kolman and should reflect in his name the modest hopes of the founder at a better time. The Jewess Kolman had lived during the Nazi dictatorship in exile.

In the Studio Theatre in the Elizabeth Street provided the cabaret, 24-25. January 1951 before its first program. Principal author was the writer Erich Kästner, while Kolman directed. The cast were mainly employees of the former cabaret " The show booth ," including Ursula Herking, Oliver Hassencamp and Bum Kruger.

The end of 1951 drew the Force in her tight, 180 pitches comprehensive home in the Maximilian street and showed respect for the program curve! The satire was used from the beginning restrained, and it often showed centerpieces according to the intention of a time-critical theater.

Mid -1950s to Kastner and Robert Gilbert withdrew, whereupon the little freedom changed from cabaret to theater revue. After his return from exile, Friedrich Hollaender joined the ensemble. From 1957 to 1961 he made four successful cabaret revues, so-called "Revue tablets ". Since 1961, Kolman turned to the boulevard theater and made from the pure cabaret theater.

In November 1996, had the Kleine Freiheit close and was then used as a warehouse of a restaurant, today there are storage rooms of a shop.
