Theatertreffen der Jugend

The Young People's Theater is a nationwide youth theater competition for young theater groups consisting of young people from all types of schools and educational paths 11 to 21 years. He has been held annually since 1980. The competition is arranged next to the Meeting Young Authors and meeting young music scene by the Berliner Festspiele on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Patron of the theater meeting of the youth is the Federal President.

History of the competition

Accepted are both own productions as well as text adaptations and realizations. A panel of theater experts ( Frank Martin, Ulrike Hatzer Jan Koslowski, Joseph Meissner, Maike Plath, Klaus Riedel, Sebastian Stolz, Carmen Waack, Anna will) selects the first 20 submissions theater groups in a short list. This theater productions are viewed on site by the judges. After the theater performance, a performance conversation takes place. From the shortlist, the jury will select eight winners. The tender stage of the competition begins in October of each year and will be announced on the website of the Berliner Festspiele. The selection process will be completed by the end of March of the following year.

Prices

The price of the selected theater groups to participate in the eight-day Young People's Theater in Berlin. The focus of the meeting are public performances of the selected theater productions. In addition, the Young People's Theater offers an extensive program consisting of theater workshops and discussions between young people and professionals from the theater and the media. Each of the theater groups, although they were on the short list, but not one of the winners groups may send up to two delegates to the meeting, who may participate in the festival program. All theater groups that have applied to receive a documentation of the theater meeting.

Forum

The forum of the meeting of the youth theater combines all the offers that refer to game manager / engineer, teacher / scholars and students. It is divided into PRACTICE with the proven technical forums and game master workshops, DIALOG with the performance conversations, FOCUS with an annually changing focus and SPECIAL - an offer of publishing the authors.
