Théâtre du Rideau Vert

The Théâtre du Rideau Vert is a theater in Montreal. It is located on the 4664 Rue Saint -Denis in the arrondissement of Le Plateau -Mont -Royal.

Founded in 1949 by the actresses Yvette Brind'Amour and Mercedes Palomino Théâtre du Rideau Vert ("Theater of the green curtain " ) is the oldest professional French-language theater in Canada. It was also one of the first theaters in the province of Quebec, which targeted the francophone theater scene promoted, among other works of Félix Leclerc, Marie -Claire Blais, Gratien Gélinas, Michel Tremblay and Antonine Maillet.

After the theater company had used in the early years, various halls ( Companions of Saint -Laurent, Monument National, Gesù, L' Anjou ), she took over in 1960 definitely the former Théâtre Stella in the Rue Saint- Denis. Since then, the building was renovated and rebuilt twice. The theater hall can accommodate 426 spectators.
