Theatresports

Theatre Sports is coined by Keith Johnstone term for a style of improvisational theater in which two teams play against each other by actors to win the favor of the audience and the referee. In various rounds were to be distributed.

Form

The shape of the theater sport, which has established itself, differs in several important ways from Johnstone's original intentions for the format; in particular, is currently almost exclusively improvisational comedy presented. Johnstone, however, indicates that he had originally intended a format which should include both comic and serious performances.

Theater sports teams there are in the world, with a number of other theater-makers have developed similar concepts, and there is some overlap. The term Theatre Sports is an unregistered word mark (TM ).

The license fees for Johnstones formats are driven by the International Theatresports Institute ( ITI). According to Johnstone is to be prevented by licensing a watering down and falsification of his invented formats. In practice, many groups circumvent the voluntary licensing in Europe by the games by other names, such as " Improv Match" or " Match Theater ", performed and frequently very different from Johnstone's original rules.

The first world championship in theater sports was part of the Arts and Culture Programme of the Federal Government for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in eleven cities and regions in Germany instead.
