Reviews

The album garnered mixed reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic notes that the album was part of the spiritual and creative rebirth Corgan after the end of the Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan. He had turned away from the sound of his past musical bands and put instead on drum machines, synthesizers and brittle guitars. The lyrics of the album are more dramatic and emotional than anything Corgan have been published. Criticizes Stefan Friedrich von laut.de that TheFutureEmbrace " total but dahinplätschere a little inconsequential ." While Corgan had already produced similar music in the late 1990s, however, lacked the songs " the punchy Something that transformed the songs into hits ." Thomas Kerpen by Ox- Fanzine sees the album parallels to the Smashing Pumpkins album Adore (1998) and classifies the music as " morbid, psychedelic dream pop ."
