Reception
The album sold only moderately, reaching no chart position. Kelly Fisher Lowe noted that the album "is not the best album in Zappa's career" was. It WOULD not all of a piece, this stems from the fact that Zappa was no longer dependent as owner of his own studio and live recording good ways to prepare a specific set of pieces for an album and take a short time.
Ben Watson sees the album as an attempt to build rock as a counter- culture to the Christian Right.
