Theodor Puff

Theodor " Theo" Puff (* November 27, 1927; † 9 May 1999) was a German footballer who played internationally for the Saarland team.

Career

National

Between 1946 and 1960, denied Theo Puff 255 games for 1.FC Saarbrücken, in which he scored ten goals. He was twice champion of the Oberliga West.

On 22 June 1952 he was subject to the 1.FCS in the final of the German Football Championship against VfB Stuttgart 2:3. In this game, the goalkeeper Erwin Saarbrücken Strempel injured about 25 minutes before the end. Since it could not be replaced, Theo Puff went for the remaining time into the goal.

Internationally

Theo Puff played between 1950-1956 twelve times for the Saarland, including three of the four qualifying matches for the Football World Cup in 1954 against Norway and the German national football team.

At 4-1 in the friendly against the English Cup finalists Liverpool on 31 May 1950, he gave the template to make it 3-1 by Herbert Binkert.

In Europe Champions Cup of 1.FCS met in 1955 as representative of the Saarland in the first round to AC Milan. After the first leg was won at the San Siro stadium sensational 4-3 of 1.FCS lost the return leg on home soil with 1:4 and retired. Theo Puff underwent the Score of 1:1 in 75 minutes an own goal.
