Theodora (senatrix)

Theodora of Tusculum, and Theodora the elder called ( † after 916) was the wife of the Roman senator and noble leader Theophylact I of Tusculum and senatrix with the titles or vestaratrix involved in whose reign in Rome and influential in the recall Pope Sergius III. and the election of John X. Pope. She was the mother of Marozia and Theodora II the Younger.

Contemporary sources refer to it as either a virtuous woman or keep them for evil. An inordinate influence of Theodora on political events witnessed only Liutprand of Cremona. An influence that goes beyond those of her husband, is not detectable and the accusation of immoral way of life at this time, the saeculum obscurum, is likely to be difficult to fix only in the person of Theodora or its subsidiaries.
