Theodore Edward Cantor

Theodore Edward Cantor, Theodor Edvard Cantor (* 1809 in Copenhagen, † 1860 in India) was a Danish physician, zoologist and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Cantor ".

Life and work

Theodore Edward Cantor made ​​in 1833 in Hall graduated as a doctor of medicine. From 1835 to 1839 he served as a doctor in the Bengal Medical Service. He collected plants on the Malay Peninsula and in China. From Cantor comes, for example, the first description of the King Cobra.

Ehrentaxon

William Munro named in his honor in 1868 the way Bambusa cantori from the plant genus Bambusa.
