Theodore L. Moritz

Theodore Leo Moritz ( born February 10, 1892 in Toledo, Ohio, † March 13, 1982 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1935 and 1937 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Theodore Moritz attended the public schools of his home. In 1913 he graduated from St. Mary 's Institute in Dayton. Then he studied until 1919 at the University of Dayton. Meantime he worked 1910-1923 as a teacher in Dayton, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. After studying law at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and his 1924 was admitted to the bar, he began practicing there in this profession. In the years 1933 and 1935 he was secretary of the mayor of Pittsburgh. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1934 Moritz on the 32nd electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he became the successor of Michael Joseph Muldowney on 3 January 1935. During his two-year term of office, he moved over to the Republicans. In 1936, he unsuccessfully sought the nomination for re-election to Congress on. Then he entered this year as an independent candidate in the elections, but was not successful. He was eliminated on January 3, 1937 the Congress. During his time there more New Deal legislation of the Roosevelt administration have been adopted. 1935, the provisions of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution were first applied, after which the term of the Congress ends or begins on January 3.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Theodore Moritz worked as a lawyer again. He died on March 13, 1982 in Pittsburgh.
