Theodore M. Pomeroy

Theodore Medad Pomeroy ( born December 31, 1824 in Cayuga, New York, † March 23, 1905 in Auburn, New York ) was an American politician ( Republican), who represented New York State in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Life

He attended Hamilton College Jura. Pomeroy was 1850-1856 District Attorney in Cayuga County. He was then in 1857 a deputy in the House of Representatives from New York.

Pomeroy took from March 4, 1861 to March 3, 1863 24th Congressional District of New York, as well as of 4 March 1863 to 4 March 1869 25th Congressional District of New York in the House of Representatives. As Speaker of the House, he headed for a day after the resignation of Schuyler Colfax on March 3, 1869 to noon on the following day, when his last term of office expired, these parliamentary chamber. He was following his career in the House of Representatives in the years 1875-1876 Mayor of Auburn and 1878-1879 member of the Senate from New York.

Pomeroy is buried at Fort Hill Cemetery in his hometown of Auburn.
