Theodore Thomas (conductor)
Theodore Thomas ( born October 11, 1835 as Theodore Thomas in Esen / Ostfriesland, † January 4, 1905 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American violinist and conductor of German descent.
Chicago was his place of activity as a musician and founder of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
In his honor, a street and a school auditorium were named in the city Esen. In the Theodor Thomas Street, a memorial plaque at the site of his birthplace is attached.
