Theodore Whitmore

Theodore Whitmore (* August 5, 1972 ) is a former Jamaican soccer player on the position of a midfield player and current football coach.

Association

His career began Whitmore at Montego Bay Boys Club and in 1994 moved to Ajax Cape Town in South Africa. From there he returned to the Violet Kickers back to his home country. He then moved to Hull City in England. In his three years he was a regular player and scored 9 goals in 77 games.

Other international experience garnered the midfielder then at FC Livingston in Scotland and the Tranmere Rovers (England).

In 2006 he moved back to Jamaica. He is now a player-coach at Seba United, a Jamaican cult club from Montego Bay. He is also assistant coach of the Jamaican national team.

National

Legendary was " Tappa " Whitmore by his 2 goals in Jamaica 's only World Cup win against Japan in France in 1998 ( Full 2-1). He completed 105 caps for Jamaica, in which he scored 24 goals. He remains faithful to the record with the most international goals for Jamaica.

Trivia

  • In 2003 Tappa was accused of having caused the death of the unfortunate 2001 goal Steve Malcolm. Whitmore was at the wheel of the car, in which Malcolm sat. However, Whitmore was acquitted of that charge.
  • That in Jamaica include an extra apple variety ( the Whitmore - Apple) was named after him, shows how popular he is on the island.

Achievements

  • Participation in the 1998 World Cup in France.
  • Two goals in the World Cup 1998 game against Japan. ( Result 2:1 for Jamaica)
  • Hat-trick in a World Cup qualifier for the 2006 World Cup against Guatemala.
