Theresa Michalak

Theresa Michalak (born 7 May 1992, Halle ( Saale) ) is a German swimmer from Halle ( Saale). She attended the High School Sports Hall. She is coached since 2009 by Frank Embacher.

Achievements

  • 2007 brought the five- year-olds at the German Short Course Championships in Essen two age group records in the 100 and 200m individual medley and so each German Champion title at the seniors.
  • At the German Short Course Championships 2008 in main meal, she won over 100, 200 and 400 m medley.
  • She swam at the Short Course World Cup in Stockholm ( 2009) over 100 meters individual medley in 59.34 seconds German record that was previously held by Britta Steffen.
  • In the Short Course World Cup in Berlin (2009 ), they improved the German record 200m individual medley of 2:09,40 minutes 2:07,65 minutes.
  • In German Short Course Championships in Essen (November 2009), she won the competition over 100, 200 and 400 meters individual medley in 59.42 seconds, minutes or 2:08,47 4:32,62 minutes and each was German champion. They filled in all three lines, the standard for the European Championships from 10 to 13 December 2009 in Istanbul.
  • In the Short Course World Cup 2008 in Berlin Theresa Michalak won 200m individual medley in 2:10,92 minutes. About half the distance she was third in 1:01,22 minutes.
  • In 2010, Michalak took a 5th place at the Short Course World Championships in Dubai about 100 meters individual medley and the 3rd place at the Short Course European Championships in Eindhoven over 100 meters individual medley as well as a 4th place 200m individual medley.
  • At the World Cup in Stockholm 2011, the sports student won over 100 meters individual medley, at the World Cup in Berlin, she came in second.
  • The Short Course European Championships 2011 in Stettin Michalak took surprisingly their first international title in German record in 59.05 seconds over 100 meters individual medley before Zsuzsanna Jakabos, Hungary, and Mie Ø. Nielsen, Denmark.
  • The German Short Course Championships 2012 in Wuppertal brought her once again the title on 100, 200 and 400 m medley.
  • She qualified for the 2012 Olympics in London about 200m medley and 200m freestyle for the Season

Awards

  • Michalak was awarded in 2008 as Sportswoman of the Year in Halle. It received the honorary award the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Culture.
