Theth National Park

The National Park Theth (Albanian Parku Kombëtar Thethi ) is a national park in northern Albania. It extends around the village and is surrounded by the Theth Bjeshkët e Nemuna ( Accursed Mountains ). The National Park covers an area of ​​2,630 hectares and was founded in 1966.

Attractions

It protects a mountain landscape with mountain forests, endemic plants and wildlife. The impressive mountain panorama with tall rock walls - the south face of Arapi is considered the highest cliff of the Balkan Peninsula - and some of Albania's highest mountain peaks as the Jezerca and Radohima make the National Park to tourist attractions area that is well suited for long and short hikes.

At the foot of Arapi there is Albania's largest horizontal cave that is not accessible to tourists.

Other attractions include the Grunas waterfall and a deep cut, very narrow gorge south of the village Theth. In the village itself, there are yet to see another waterfall and cultural goods.

Tourism

The National Park is located 70 km from Shkodra difficulties accessing removed in deeply incised valley of the Shala. In the village Theth, whereas on the Qafa e Thores leads a dirt mountain road, there are numerous places to stay. Another gravel road leads to the south in the valley of the Shala; however this is only passable road vehicles. About the Qafa e Valbonës is a foot link between the National Park and the National Park Theth Valbonatal.

GTZ and other foreign aid organizations promote eco-tourism projects in the National Park.
