Theuma

Theuma is a municipality in the Saxon Vogtland. It belongs to the administrative organization Jägerwald.

Geography

The municipality is located in the center of the Theuma Vogtland circle about eight miles southeast of the county town of Plauen located. The municipal area covers 9.82 km ² between the federal highway 72 in the West, the federal highway 169 in the east and Highway 315 to the south. In the west the town is limited by a larger forest area. At Theuma Neuensalz bordered to the north, mountains in the east, Tirpersdorf in the south and the county town of Plauen in the West.

The place Theuma is located on a plateau at about 500 meters above sea level. The variation in altitude ranging from 430 m above sea level. History

Theuma was the first time in the deed of gift to the church Theumaer ( from altsorbischen dym for smoke, haze ), mentioned in 1267 as Dymen. For the year 1275 the construction of a stone church has survived. It replaced the previously existing wooden chapel in the village. In the years 1419-1430 it comes to the destruction of parts of the village by the Hussites. Among other things, the church was set on fire, which was rebuilt in 1930.

During the Peasants' War storm insurgent peasants in 1525 the parsonage of the village. The parish was in 1528 during the Reformation Evangelical Lutheran. In 1633 Theuma was sacked by imperial soldiers. At the plague 331 recorded in the parish people died.
