Thilo Leugers

Thilo Leugers (* January 9, 1991 in Lingen ) is a German football player. The defender has since the 2010/11 season at the Dutch first division club FC Twente in Enschede under contract.

Career

Both parents of Thilo Leugers and his big sister are Svenja youth football coach at SV heather Andervenne; his older sister Jana is a footballer and played for Heike Rheine and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga. At the age of eleven years moved Thilo Leugers of the small club in Emsland to FC Twente. Here he passed through the youth training program at the Football Academy FC Twente / Heracles Almelo before he signed his first contract in 2009 with the youth team of FC Twente Enschede Jong.

In the 2010/11 season coach Michel Preud'homme took him from the youth team to the first team. His debut in the Eredivisie was the left-back 30 October 2010 in a 1-0 away win at PSV Eindhoven in, during which he was after 63 minutes against another 19 -year-olds, the Austrian Michael Schimpelsberger, replaced. Just three days later Leugers got its first use in the Champions League. In the away game against Werder Bremen, he was one of the key players in the 2-0 victory for the Dutch, and was allowed to play for the whole 90 minutes. Three weeks later he came in the match with Inter Milan for use. In the Eredivisie, he came in the 2010/11 season eight times for use; in the 2011/12 season four times. For the 2012/13 season Leugers was loaned for one year to the league rivals NAC Breda in order to gain more match practice. After his return he was injured early in the season during a friendly match against Preußen Münster.
