Think Tank (Blur album)

Occupation

  • Guitar: Graham Coxon
  • Bass: Alex James
  • Drums: Dave Rowntree

Think Tank is the seventh and so far last studio album of the band Blur and was released on 5 May 2003.

The album is the only Blur album, which was written and recorded for the most part without guitarist Graham Coxon, since he had just left the band. Only on the song Battery in Your Leg he had participated. The musical style of think tank is characterized not least by the widespread abandonment of the previous Britpop guitar sound of the band, was replaced by experimental structures and instruments. The influences of world music, jazz and hip-hop can be seen. The non-uniform style of the album also explains the title Think Tank (German think tank ), which can be understood as an expression of different impulses of artistic creativity. The originally planned title Dark Life (a reference to the hit album Parklife ) points to the pessimistic mood of the lyrics.

The cover design of the album comes from the British street artist Banksy.

The album was a generally positive reception, the newspaper The Observer chose it in 2003 for "Album of the Year". The New Musical Express took Think Tank in November 2010 to its list of the 100 best albums of the decade ( 20th place )
