Thinking of Woody Guthrie is the first solo album by Country Joe McDonald, which was published in 1969. In Allmusic the album four and a half stars out of five received.

On his first solo album without his band Country Joe and the Fish, he interprets the songs of Woody Guthrie. He will be accompanied by musicians from the Nashville scene such as Grady Martin and Harold Bradley.

Even today, McDonald is a fan of Woody Guthrie. According to McDonald "embodies Woody Guthrie the American Dream of working people. According to McDonald, the production of this album is random: In 1969, he led in Nashville shots for his planned first solo album Tonight I'm Singing Just for You, a country and western album by.
