Third Day

Third Day is an American Christian rock band that was founded in the 1990s in Marietta from the lead singer Mac Powell and guitarist Mark Lee. The other band members are Tai Anderson (bass ), David Carr (drums) and Scott Wilbanks (keyboard). The name is an allusion to Jesus' resurrection, which on the third day (third day) after the crucifixion took place (see also Easter).

The band's style is often referred to as " Southern ( Roots ) Rock" ( " Southern Rock" ) and is reminiscent of bands like Counting Crows or, especially as far as the voice of singer Mac Powell, of Hootie & the Blowfish. While (self - titled) was still strongly influenced by acoustic guitars, the debut album, followed by " No Conspiracy. 5" in 1997, a rather experimental plate. With the album title, the fifth meaning is meant in English dictionaries the word " Conspiracy " (main importance: conspiracy ) is attached: A group does together to a common belief, in this case the Christian message proclaim. The album "Time" in turn gets its special character by the fact that the songs were recorded in each case by the whole band in the studio and not, as usual, each instrument individually. From about the fourth ( regular ) then dominated the album to this day characteristic "Southern Rock". Between the regular studio albums, the band played again and again a well-known Christian ( praise ) songs, brought among others also a pure Christmas album out. In the U.S., the band won several musical awards.

In early 2008, Third Day announced that guitarist Brad Avery withdrew from the band. After two years with only one guitarist Jason Hoard was brought in as additional live musicians. Meanwhile, he was replaced by Brian Brunn.
