Third is the third album of the trip-hop band Portishead, Bristol. It seemed only eleven years after the previous studio album.

Awards

The album was highly praised by the critics. So four and a half Allmusic awarded five points. In Pitchfork Media awarded the album 8.8 out of 10 and in laut.de four out of five. The Guardian even awarded the highest rating and praised it, saying:

" [ ... ] Its muscular synthesizer from, drum breaks and abrupt endings keeping the tension high. But after several listens, Third 's majesty unfurls. "

The album was voted by the critics of the German Rolling Stone magazine Visions each album of the year 2008, the Music Express put it at # 2 in the magazine Spex and it came in at number 7

Cover versions

The Rip was covered by Radiohead and published on the official website of Radiohead. Radiohead also expressed their otherwise very positive about Third and called it the best album so far of the band.
