This Is Hell (band)

This Is Hell is an American hardcore punk band from Long Iceland, New York, which was founded in 2004.

History

The band was formed in June 2004 from the decay of two bands and consisted Scraps -and- Heart- Attacks singer Travis Reilly, as well as The backup plan members Joe Osolin ( electric guitar ), Jeff Tiu ( electric bass) and Dan Bourke (drums). As a second guitarist Rick Jimenez was occupied. The band's name was derived from a song by Elvis Costello. The band recorded a demo, of which 1,000 copies were sold, so it was re-released in 2004 as a self-titled EP on Run for Cover Records. From this EP 500 copies were sold. One also self- titled EP, which included six songs, joined in 2005, which was published by State of Mind Records. In August appearances followed along with Most Precious Blood, Donnybrook and Modern Life Is War. In November gigs followed, along with Blacklisted and Cancer Bats. After The Backup Plan was revived in 2005, Tiu and Osolin left the band. As a new bass player Johnny Moore joined the band, while Chris Reynolds played the electric guitar. Then, the debut album on Trustkill Records Sundowning was published in Spring 2006. In 2008 followed with Misfortunes the next album with Trustkill Records. After that, the band switched to Rise Records, what the album Weight of the World (2010) and Black Mass (2011 ) published.

Style

The band played in its early time classic New York hardcore. In her more recent works such as Black Mass the thrash metal influences are stronger, so that comparisons are drawn with bands like Leeway and Metallica.
