This Left Feels Right

Occupation

This Left Feels Right is a compilation album from 2003 by Bon Jovi earlier versions with alternative hits of the band. Here, most of the songs that are faster hard rock songs in the original were transformed into slower ballads.

Background

During the tour for the previous album Bounce in Japan Bon Jovi had made an appearance, in which they have played only acoustic versions of his own songs and some covers. This performance was recorded and it was up for discussion, to publish it as a live acoustic album. However, the band was not satisfied with the result and therefore they had decided to follow a more experimental way, so they have added completely new versions in the studio.

The title of the album Jon Bon Jovi had first At The Steps of Graceland in mind, but as someone said "this left feels right", which means something like " this is unconventional, but feels right " means that the album title was clear.

It was written for the album, two new songs, but both were not released with the album: Last Man Standing and Thief of Hearts. However, both songs were released a year later in the box set 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can not Be Wrong. Last Man Standing was also published in an extended version on Have a Nice Day.

Musical content

The album includes the successful hits of the band, but there are all new versions. Even the bonus track The Distance, although it is a live recording, an acoustic variant. Many songs that are harder rock numbers in the original version were to slower, acoustic alternatives. Although the band from the "Unplugged" performance by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora at the VMA 's in 1989 was inspired, most of the songs are not " unplugged", because the band wanted to offer more than what they already almost 15 years earlier had made.

For the musical variety has Richie Sambora particularly by Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, and Jon Bon Jovi by Tom Waits, can be influenced.
