Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe

Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe ( born December 17, 1915 in Pilot Point, Texas, USA, † January 24, 2009 in Dallas, Texas) was a Roman Catholic bishop of Dallas.

Life

Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. On 30 May 1943 he received in Worthington, Ohio, to the priesthood. He was a pastor in Sherman, Fort Worth, and Dallas and later became chancellor and vicar general of the Diocese of Dallas. In 1962 he was appointed Monsignor.

1966 Pope Paul VI appointed him. the second bishop of the Diocese of San Angelo. He received his episcopal consecration on March 9, 1966, the Bishop of Dallas, Thomas Kiely Gorman; Leo Aloysius Pursley co-consecrators were, Bishop of Fort Wayne, and Lawrence Michael De Falco, Bishop of Amarillo. 1969 he was appointed the fifth Bishop of Dallas. During his tenure, the diocese Tyler was founded in 1987, from the Diocese of Dallas 21 counties were incorporated into the new diocese.

Pope John Paul II was instead his resignation on July 14, 1990, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of Dallas by Pope Leo XIII ..
