Thomas Bayly (Maryland)

Thomas Bayly (* September 13, 1775 in Quantico, Wicomico County, Maryland, † September 18, 1829 ) was an American politician. Between 1817 and 1823 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Bayly was born on the estate Wellington near Quantico. He enjoyed a private school and then studied until 1797 at the Princeton College. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began in Maryland to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Federalist Party, a political career. Between 1804 and 1814 Bayly sat in the House of Representatives from Maryland.

In the congressional elections of 1816 he was in the eighth election district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Charles Goldsborough on March 4, 1817. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1823 three legislative periods. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Thomas Bayly again practiced as a lawyer. He died on September 18, 1829 on the premises Wellington where he was buried.
