Thomas Benjamin Fitzpatrick

Thomas Benjamin Fitzpatrick (* 1896, † 1974) was an American naval officer. In 1936 he was appointed acting for five days Military Governor of American Samoa.

Career

Thomas Fitzpatrick was an officer in the U.S. Navy, in which he reached the rank of Commander, which corresponds to a lieutenant colonel in the army. From his officer status, one can conclude on a visit to a naval academy. Between 15 and 20 January 1936 he was appointed acting governor of American Samoa. He bridged the time between the outgoing Governor Otto Dowling and the inauguration of his successor MacGillivray Milne. During the Second World War Fitzpatrick commanded the battleship USS Zeilin, which, among other things, landed during the battle for the Gilbert Islands troops.

About the life and the subsequent career of Thomas Fitzpatrick nothing is handed down. He died in 1974.
