Thomas Borchert

Thomas Borchert ( born July 20, 1966 in Essen) is a German singer, actor and musical performer.

Life and work

With eight years Borchert received his first piano lessons. With his rock band Cakewalk he won the 1988 NDR Music Prize Hörfest and was also winner of the Federal rock Prize in the category of pop. After graduating from high school in 1988 was the inclusion of the " Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama " in Hamburg. During his training, he received his first musical as Rum Tum Tugger commitment in Cats ( 1990-91 ).

First roles after finishing his studies included the Snoopy in You're all right Charlie Brown and Dr. Frank N. Furter in The Rocky Horror Show; both in Hamburg. The role of the murderer Luigi Lucheni in the musical Elisabeth took him two years to Vienna. In 1994 he returned to the role of Buddy Holly in Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story returns to Hamburg. For this role, he learned to play the guitar. After a one-year commitment in Schwäbisch Hall in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita (as Che Guevara ), he returned to Vienna and Elisabeth; but this time as the charismatic death.

Will be followed by the roles of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, and the Leopold Mozart ' and the Prince-Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo in the Muscial Mozart. From 2003, he took over the role of the Count of Krolock in the musical Dance of the Vampires, directed by Roman Polanski in Hamburg. He took over The same role from 2006 to 2008 in Berlin and from 2009 to 2010 in Vienna. 2005 Borchert was in Phantom of the Opera at the Essen Colosseum Theater as a phantom on stage. He alternated among others with Uwe Kröger and Ethan Freeman. 2006 and 2007, Borchert was a soloist at the Best of Musical tour, which took him across Germany. He had in 2008 in the role of Gaston in Gigi His West End debut.

In 2009 he played the role of Edmond Dantes in the musical The Count of Monte Cristo at the Theater St. Gallen. From September on, he was back as the baritone lead role in Dance of the Vampires on the stage, and in a revised edition in Ronacher ( Wien). He played this role until November 4, 2010. He had not renewed the contract at his own request. Drew Sarich was determined as his successor. From December 2011 to April 2012 Thomas Borchert embodied in the Palladium Theater Stuttgart to Maxim de Winter in the musical " Rebecca ," based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier.

Borchert married 2005, the violinist Rebecca Thümer. He has a son from his first marriage.

Other musical activities

In addition to his musical engagements Borchert was also committed to the music. 1996/97 he performed as a soloist of the orchestra of Bert Kaempfert, further, he was the soloist in Leonard Bernstein's Mass, which was performed under the musical direction of Caspar Richter in Linz and Nuremberg.

In 1999, Borchert under the pseudonym Tom Reed released his first album entitled The Best of Goodbyes out. In 2000, the CD was released more than words, for which he was awarded the Song poet, and in 2001 was followed by the CD Ruthless Love Songs. The end of 2002 came Borchert's fourth CD entitled Thomas ' animal themes on the market. In the summer of 2004, he wrote next to his commitment and the music to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and in early 2005 he published his latest CD Borchert DeLuxe.
