Thomas Campbell (minister)

Thomas Campbell ( born 1 February 1763 in Ireland; † January 4, 1854 in Bethany, West Virginia ) was an American Presbyterian minister - Irish origin. His life's work was the unification of the disintegrated into four groups Presbyterians.

He emigrated to America in 1807 and joined in 1808 from the church because he had been forbidden by his synod, with not belonging to his community Presbyterians to celebrate the sacrament.

Together with the revivalist Barton Warren Stone founded the Disciples of Christ. His son Alexander (1788-1866) continued his work.
