Thomas Jacob (luger)

Thomas Jacob ( born November 11, 1965 in Lichtenstein ) is a former German luger.

Thomas Jacob was for the SC tractor Oberwiesental start. In the second half of the 1980s he was one of the best racing lugers in the world. In 1986 he won in Oberhof before Michael and Torsten Walter Görlitz his first title as a DDR champion. A year later, the axis was beaten at the same place Jens Müller and Rene Friedl. Career highlight was the participation in the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 by Calgary. Jacob started the first race in fourth place in the competition and reached the second round of the fifth time. In the third round, he was able to achieve the best time of all participants, forgave the good position but by the sixth time in the final fourth round and was finally fourth behind Jens Müller, Georg Hackl and Yuri Tschartschenko. 1989 Jacob was in Altenberg before Friedl and Jörg Hoffmann last East German champions in luge.
