Thomas Kielinger

Thomas Kiel Inger (* July 1940 in Danzig) is a journalist and author. Since 1998 he has worked as a correspondent in the world in London.

Life

Kiel Inger was born in 1940 as the last of six children in Danzig (today Gdańsk). He studied at the Universities of Münster and Bochum English, German and Philosophy ( MA in German Studies ) and at University College, Cardiff, Wales, where he spent three years as a lecturer at the German Department.

In February 1971 Kiel Inger joined as a literary critic in the arts section editors of the German national daily newspaper Die Welt a. The leaf sent him in 1977 with the beginning of the term of President Jimmy Carter as U.S. correspondent to Washington, DC, where he worked until the end of the first term of Ronald Reagan.

Returned in 1985, he became chief editor of the weekly newspaper Rheinische Merkur until 1994 he independently came to prominence as an author and consultant for political foundations.

He joined The World in 1998 again, this time as a correspondent in London.

Kielinger belonged for several years to the jury the Theodor Wolff Prize and the Steering Committee of the German - English King Winter Conference. He is a regular contributor to the BBC and other British and German media.

Several books attest to his lifelong interest in German -British subjects. After " The intersection and the roundabout - German and British in the center of European history" ( Bouvier, 1997; well as in English: "Crossroads and Roundabouts " ), was published in 2009 his international portrait 'Great Britain', in CH Beck series " The Germans and their neighbors " ( ed. by Richard von Weizsäcker and Chancellor Helmut Schmidt ). 2011 was followed by a biography, " Elizabeth II - The Life of the Queen" ( also by CH Beck, 3rd edition 2012), which was among others also honored in the Times Literary Supplement.
