Thomas Lange

Thomas Lange ( born February 27, 1964 in Eisleben ) is a retired German rower.

Long home club was the SC Chemie Halle, later Ratzeburger RC. He won at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul in One for the GDR, the gold medal, and repeated this victory four years later in Barcelona. In the summer of 1996, he was at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 after winning the bronze medal for the last time from the race boat. In 1997 he was the International Rowing Federation FISA with the highest distinction in rowing, the Thomas Keller Medal Award. In 1984 he was awarded in the GDR with the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. In 1988 he was awarded the Star of People's Friendship in gold.

Thomas Long is married and now lives as a surgeon in Ratzeburg and has two sons. He is still occasionally active at Masters regattas.
