Thomas M. Eaton

Thomas Marion Eaton ( born August 3, 1896 in Edwardsville, Illinois, † September 16, 1939 in Long Beach, California ) was an American politician. In 1939, he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Eaton attended the common schools and then studied until 1917 at the State Normal School, which later became Illinois State University. In the years 1917 and 1918, he served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. In 1921 Eaton to Long Beach, California, where he worked in the car trade. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1934 and 1938 he sat on the city council of Long Beach; for some time there, he served as mayor.

In the congressional elections of 1938, Eaton was in the 18th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Byron N. Scott on January 3, 1939. He could mandate in Congress but only exercise until his death on 16 September of the same year. His mandate was then vacant until January 3, 1941.
