Thomas McCall
Thomas McCall (* 1834 in Penpont, Dumfries and Galloway, † 1904 in Kilmarnock ) was a Scottish wheelwright who in 1869 invented a Stangenveloziped.
In response to the French by Pierre Michaux Velocipede with pedals on the front wheel, he built a two-wheeled velocipede linkages that had a crank on the rear wheel.
A further seven inventors responded at that time with the idea of a rear-wheel - drive system: the Stuttgart gym instructor John Trefz, Alexandre Lefebvre, Viarengo de forville, Calvin Witty, Gavin Dalzell, N. Read, and N. Lawson.
