Thomas Miller (Saskatchewan)

Thomas Miller ( born July 21, 1876 in Grand Valley, Ontario, † June 20, 1945 in Regina ) was a Canadian journalist. In 1945, he was less than four months, Vice Governor of the province of Saskatchewan.

Biography

Miller moved into his childhood with his family to Regina in the then Northwest Territories. In 1892 he began a two- year apprenticeship at the newspaper Regina standard to their owners later prime minister of Saskatchewan, Thomas Walter Scott belonged. When Scott 1894, the Moose Jaw Times founded, he entrusted Miller with the management of the print. Two years later he was promoted to Chairman and Chief Editor of this newspaper, and brought it for the next five decades.

Governor General Lord Athlone sworn Miller on February 27, 1945 as Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Since the government had previously signed a year, the Government House for reasons of economy, he made the Hotel Saskatchewan to his official residence. His main responsibilities included the organization of numerous victory parades after the end of World War II. Just 15 weeks after the swearing Miller died of a heart attack.
