Thomas Ostermeier

Easter Thomas Meier ( born September 3, 1968 in Soltau ) is a German theater director.

Life

From 1990 to 1991, Easter Meier actor when Faust project by Einar Schleef at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. From 1992 to 1996 he studied directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts Ernst Busch Berlin. From 1993 to 1994 he was assistant of Manfred Karge at the Berliner Ensemble. From 1996 to 1999 he was artistic director and director of the barracks at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. In 1998, the barracks at the Deutsches Theater was elected to the critics of the magazine Theater heute theater of the year. He directed, among others at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, at the Munich Chamber games and at the Burgtheater in Vienna.

Easter Meier has received numerous awards. 1998, 2003, 2006 and 2008, he was invited to the Berlin Theatre Meeting. In 1997 and 2011 he was awarded the Friedrich Luft Prize. In 2003 he was awarded the Viennese theater price NESTROY. 2010, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, he was awarded. In 2011 he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale.

Since 1999, Easter Meier Artistic Director and director of the theater in Berlin. Since 2010 he is President of the Franco-German Cultural Council. He is a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts.
