Thomas Otway

Thomas Otway ( born March 3 1652 Trotton, † April 4, 1685 in London ) was an English playwright in the time of the Stuart restoration.

He wrote several books, but he lived in poverty. Theophilus Cibber, in his book Lives of the Poets, that he choked on a piece of bread, which he had bought from a begged Guinea.

The Works of Mr. Thomas Otway was first published in 1712.
