Thomas Pesquet

Thomas Pesquet ( born February 27, 1978 in Rouen ) is a French engineer and member of the European Astronaut Corps.

Training

After completing his schooling at the Lycée Pierre Corneille in Rouen study followed in Mechanics of Space Systems and Spacecraft. In 2001 he finished his studies with the master. Between 2002 and 2004 Pesquet worked for the French space agency CNES. In the Air France he trained as a pilot and received his license in 2006.

Spaceman activity

Pesquet could prevail against 8413 other candidates in the selection process of the ESA and was presented on 20 May 2009 as one of six new astronauts to the public. His training at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne began Thomas Pesquet early September 2009. The official completion of basic training and the appointment of the astronauts took place on November 22, 2010 at an official ceremony at the EAC in Cologne.

On March 17, 2014 Pesquet was officially allocated for a long-duration mission aboard the ISS. Production will start 2016Vorlage: Future / done in 2 years.

Private

His hobby is one jogging, swimming, squash, diving, playing saxophone, paragliding and skydiving and judo. He holds a black belt in the sport. In addition to his native French, he speaks English, German, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
