Thomas R. Byrne

Thomas Robert Byrne ( born March 9, 1923 in Saint Paul, Minnesota; † 5 April 2009) was an American politician of the Minnesota Democratic - Farmer-Labor Party and held from 1966 to 1970, the mayor of Saint Paul.

During the Second World War he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Later he worked as a lawyer. From 1966 to 1970 he was mayor of Saint Paul. In 1970, Byrne was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the office of Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. However, he could not prevail within the party against Rudy Perpich.

Byrne was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
