Thomas Raffl

Thomas Raffl ( born June 19, 1986 in Villach) is an Austrian ice hockey player, who for the EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian EBEL plays since November 2010.

Career

Thomas Raffl is the former VSV- player Peter Raffl the son. So Raffl came as a teenager for EC VSV. After graduating at age 19 already 76 Bundesliga games, he ventured overseas, where he played for two different teams in the Western Hockey League. There, however, he could not prevail, and so he returned already during the season for VSV.

In the 2008 /09 season Raffl became a key player for the VSV - in 41 games he scored 35 points. His performance allowed him a move to Sweden, where he earned a two- year contract signed with Elitserien team Luleå HF. At the start of season 2009/10 he was put through a severe concussion for several weeks out of action. Nevertheless, he completed 45 games for his new club, scoring seven goals and eight assists. In November 2010 he signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg, after he had started the season with the Swedish club Luleå HF.

Internationally

Raffl already played in the A-National Team, he was there at the World Championship Division I in 2008. There he was involved back in the A group with three points in five games instrumental in the rise of Austria. Raffl also completed two U20 and one U18 World Cup for Austria.
