Thomas Rolph

Thomas Rolph ( born January 17, 1885 in San Francisco, California, † May 10, 1956 ) was an American politician. Between 1941 and 1945 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Rolph was the younger brother of Governor James Rolph ( 1869-1934 ). He attended the common schools and the Humboldt Evening High School. In 1912 he founded an agency for construction materials, whose president he was to remain until his death. Politically, he joined the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1940, Rolph was in the fourth electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded Franck R. Havenner took on 3 January 1941 he had beaten in the election. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1945 two legislative sessions. These were shaped by the events of World War II. In 1944 Rolph defeated his predecessor Havenner.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Thomas Rolph withdrew from politics. He devoted himself to continue his business tasks and died on 10 May 1956 in San Francisco.
