Thomas Sauvin

Thomas Sauvin is a French collector of photographs and editor who lives in Beijing. Since 2006 he has worked exclusively as a consultant for the sedentary in the UK Archive of Modern Conflict independent, for which he collects photos of contemporary history in China. A look at this collection provides a book of photographs Happy Tonite (2010).

In 2009 he founded the Silver Mine project and collected more than half a million mostly anonymous color negatives that were destined for destruction at a Beijing recycling operation. They cover a period of 20 years from 1985 onwards from, from the time when predominantly classic footage has been used in China and cameras widely disseminated in China, up to the time around 2005, when digital photography took over everything.

Sauvin exhibited, among others, on the Dali Photo Festival (China), the Open City Museum in Bressanone ( Austria ) and the Singapore International Photo Festival.
