Thomas Schertwitis

Thomas Schertwitis ( born September 2, 1972 in Alma- Ata, USSR ) was a kasachischerdeutscher water polo players.

Schertwitis was still being born in what is now Kazakhstan, part of the Soviet Union in a Russian-German family. There he began his career and came from internationally in 1993 at the now -independent Kazakhstan. With the Kazakh national team he won in 1994 at the Asian Games and finished at the World Championships 1994 12th Place. In 1997 he moved to Berlin and played until 2004 for water Spandau 04 With the water friends, he won seven German league titles and six times the cup competition. Mid-2004 Schertwitis after Olympiakos Piraeus in Greece, a year later, he moved on to Sintez Kazan in Russia. With Kazan he celebrated in 2006 by winning the LEN Trophy his first European Cup victory.

Since June 15, 1998 Schertwitis has the German nationality and has since played for the German national water polo team. He participated in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, when the German team reached the 5th place. At the World Cup 2005, the German team was ranked 9, 2007 the team was ranked eighth in 2003 and 2008, the team finished sixth at the European Championships. Schertwitis graduated 272 internationals.
