Thomas Schomerus

Thomas Schomerus ( b. 1957 ) is a German legal scholar.

Thomas Schomerus is Professor of Public Law, especially energy and environmental law at the University of Lüneburg.

He studied 1976 - 1981 Law at the Universities of Hamburg and Göttingen. Besides working on various research projects, he produced 1982 - 1985 his dissertation on " deficits in the nature protection law" to. In 1988 he began work as a civil servant in the service of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, in particular in the fields of construction and environmental law and held various teaching positions at the University of Hamburg and at other universities. In 1996, he became professor at the former University of Applied Sciences Nordostniedersachsen in Lüneburg, now University of Lüneburg. Schomerus is a member of Leuphana Law School of the Faculty of Economics and member of the Institute for Sustainability Management Faculty of sustainability.

Among the research areas initially include the energy law, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. Schomerus is co-author of the Berlin commentary on the Renewable Energy Act and has several research projects conducted on behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the Federal Environment Agency, including on offshore wind energy and to develop new tools to improve energy efficiency. Another focus of legal research is the resource protection law; here Schomerus has prepared the revised version of the recycling law. The third focus is the freedom of information law in which a commentary on the Environmental Information Act with written and was written a report for the Federal Office for Radiation Protection to information requirements in the nuclear and radiation protection legislation.

Schomerus is married and has three children.
