Thomas Sprigg

Thomas Sprigg (* 1747 in Prince George's County, Maryland, † December 13, 1809 in Washington County, Maryland ) was an American politician. Between 1793 and 1797 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Sprigg was the uncle of Congressman Richard Sprigg. He grew up during the British colonial period. Between September and December 1776, he was one unit from Maryland during the Revolutionary War ensign. Between 1777 and 1780 he was a notary for wills ( Register of Wills ) in Washington County. In the meantime, he served there as a county council. Politically Sprigg in opposition to the discussion of President George Washington federal government. End of the 1790s he joined, founded by Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1792 Sprigg was selected in the fourth electoral district of Maryland in the time which meets even in Philadelphia U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of Samuel Sterett on March 4, 1793. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1797 two legislative sessions. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Sprigg did not occur in a political phenomenon.
