Thomas Stellmach

Thomas Stell Mach ( * 1965 in Straubing ) is animated film director, producer, writer and animator. For his independent productions he has won both about 50 international awards in 1997 the Oscar of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the stop-motion film Quest, which was already award 1996 as part of the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart with the SWR Audience Award.

He studied animation at the Animation Artist and Professor Paul Driessen at the Kassel Art Academy. After his artistic high school he founded in 2000 with two partners, the animation studio atrium - Film & Animation in Kassel and produced until 2008 for television and advertising. 2009 Stellmach did his share, and since then focuses again on artistic projects. The productions include computer animation, stop-motion, animation and pixilation. In his latest animated abstract experimental film " Virtuoso Virtual ' he visualized along with his directing partner and artist Maja Oschmann the overture to the opera" The Alchemist " by Louis Spohr in black ink and in stereoscopy. The 3D version of the film is integrated into the permanent collection of the Museum Spohr since 2013. In the same year the film was released on DVD.
